Personalized, high-quality support, tailored to you and your vision for your future.

"Great experience with Allison. She knows her stuff and was able to make the college application process so much easier. It was so nice to have someone knowledgeable about the process who could answer all our questions ...”

  • Comprehensive Packages

Students will work individually with me from start to finish in their college admissions journey. Together, we focus on building a well rounded college list and submitting the best possible applications and well crafted essays to those schools.

Packages include weekly or monthly one-on-one meetings, curated resources, and advice specifically tailored to each student and their needs.

  • Essay Coaching and Editing

I offer full college essay coaching, which includes brainstorming, advice on topic selection, outlining, and help with revising until the essay is ready to submit.

Need help with your short answer or school specific questions? I can help with that too. And if you just want a second set of eyes to edit your final draft, we’ve got you.

  • Financial Aid Information

As a parent myself, I understand that paying for college is top of mind for most parents.

So as we work together, I will help you understand the what and why of the FAFSA, the differences between need-based and merit aid, provide resources for finding scholarships, and help you find schools that work for your family’s budget.

  • Hourly Consulting by Appointment

Looking for a bit of advice?

Want to bounce some ideas off me?

I work with students and families on an hourly basis to advise on topics like list building, athletic recruiting, activity lists, and any other questions you may have.

Let me know how I can be of help!

Where do we begin?

Step 1: Schedule an Initial Call

The first step towards working together is to schedule a discovery phone call with me. The objective of this call is for me to learn a little about your student and get an idea of the services and support you are looking for. If none of my available times work for you, please reach out to me directly and we can find another time.

Step 2: Discovery Call

We will have a brief discussion regarding your needs. If it appears that we are a good fit to work together, we will then schedule a Getting Acquainted Meeting (student and parent together). If none of my available times work for you, please reach out to me directly and we can find another time.

Step 3: Getting Acquainted Meeting

The purpose of this meeting is for me to meet your student, learn more about where they are in the college admissions process, and for all parties to decide if it's a good fit. We will determine the scope of support needed and I will provide guidance on the package or services that best suits your needs.

Step 4: Contract for Services

If, after our Getting Acquainted meeting, you would like to move forward, I will send over my contract for services, as well as an invoice for a deposit to hold your spot. I have a limited amount of space in each class - please note that your spot is not secured until deposit has been received. Then we will schedule our first student meeting and begin our work together.

FAQ’s

  • My hourly rate is $225/hour and my packages range anywhere from $800 to $6950. During our Getting Acquainted meeting I can advise on the package and services that best fit your needs. This will depend upon the scope of support needed, your student’s college goals, and the number of colleges your student anticipates applying to. I have a variety of packages to meet most families' needs.

  • Yes, I refer to this as hourly consulting. This is especially suited for students that work with me in 9th or 10th grade (course advising, extracurriculars, assessments, etc.) or for students that want to schedule a few check-in meetings during their college admissions process. For families seeking robust support, where I work as “project manager” helping the student navigate the process from start to finish, I recommend choosing one of our Comprehensive Packages.

  • Deciding to work with an educational consultant is a very personal decision and it’s important that families do their research. This article from Parent Magazine offers some good food for thought, as well as considerations regarding the ROI (Return on Investment) should you decide to work with a consultant. And this FAQ page offers detailed  information from HECA (the Higher Education Consultants Association) and provides an in-depth look at all the benefits of working with a consultant, as well as considerations for finding the right consultant for you and your family.

  • No, I work in tandem with your school counselor and offer additional support as needed. It’s still very important that you continue meeting with your school counselor and keep them updated about your college application plans. They will be your go-to person for high school specific questions, high school course registration issues, as well as counselor recommendation letters (required by most colleges) and high school transcripts when you begin applying to colleges.

  • For comprehensive and hourly bundle packages, the total package cost will be broken down into regularly monthly payments. For all other services, payment in full is due at the start of service. I accept payment by check, credit card, debit card, Venmo and Zelle.

  • I do not provide specific college counseling advice during an initial phone call because the focus is on seeing if we are a good fit to work together. Once we decide to work together and go to contract, I will review the student’s transcript and intake paperwork and then the advising process begins.

I read all the college prep books so you don’t have to - and I provide manageable timelines to help keep students on track.

I know which sources to trust and I make sure to provide you with only the most reliable resources available.
